Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Custodian I for Deerfield Elementary School to perform routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment. This is a full-time, twelve-month position with duties across classrooms, offices, corridors, and exterior areas.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED (ninth grade education acceptable) and at least one year of custodial experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ninth grade education acceptable.
• One year of custodial, mechanical trade or related experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform essential duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment, sweeps and cleans floors in classrooms, offices and hallways.
• Cleans with custodial gear: brooms, mops, vacuums and scrubbing machines.
• Collects and disposes of trash; delivers supplies to storage areas.
• Performs lawn and playground maintenance; assists during snow removal.
• Responds to emergencies and supports other duties as assigned.
