Heim Bearings in Fairfield, CT, is seeking a 2nd Shift Setup Operator for the centerless grinding department. The role focuses on setting up and operating centerless grinding machines and related gauging equipment to sustain production and quality targets.

The incumbent will train new staff, manage tool changes and wheel dressing, and ensure accurate production records and safe, organized work areas. This is an on-site, full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Assist the centerless grinding area, maintaining production and quality levels by periodically checking operators for quantity and quality and spot checking setups.
• Take complete responsibility for all aspects of the setup and operation of centerless grinding machines and related precision gauging equipment, including determining feeds and speeds and selecting tools.
• Change, select and dress grinding wheels when required and determine best work assignments to maintain quality and workflow.
• Train new employees in the centerless grinding area and use gauges such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges and jo blocks.
• Report maintenance requirements to supervisors promptly and maintain production records and proper material segregation and transport within the grinding area.
