Job summary

RBC Bearings is seeking skilled personnel for the centerless grinding area. You will set up and operate centerless grinding machines, select best tools and feeds, and troubleshoot unusual grinding problems to maintain quality and production flow.

You will train new operators, use micrometers, verniers and other gauges, and ensure proper gauging and documentation. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe work area and supporting maintenance requests as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience setting up centerless grinding machines and gauging equipment.
• Ability to select feeds, speeds, tools and solve grinding problems.
• Train others and ensure operator adherence to gauges and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the centerless grinding area, maintaining production and quality by checking operators for quantity and quality and spot checking setups.
• Take complete responsibility for setup and operation of centerless grinding machines and related gauging equipment.
• Change, select and dress grinding wheels when required.
• Determine best work assignments to maintain quality and flow of work.
• Train new employees in the centerless grinding area and instruct use of gauges such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges and jo blocks.
• Report maintenance requirements to supervisors on a timely basis.
• Maintain production records, assist operators, and manage material segregation, identification and transport within grinding area.
• Keep work area clean and safe, fill in on any job in department as required, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist the centerless grinding area, maintaining production and quality levels by periodically checking operators for quantity and quality and spot checking setups.
• Take complete responsibility for all aspects of the setup and operation of the centerless grinding machines and related precision gauging equipment, including recommending optimum feeds and speeds, determining compensation requirements, selecting the best tools for any operation and solving unusual grinding problems that occur in manufacturing.
• When required, change, select and dress grinding wheels.
• Using all machines and operators, determine the best work assignments to maintain quality and the flow of work.
• Train new employees in the centerless grinding area and must be able to use, check and direct the use of gauges such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges and jo blocks.

Additional duties

• Report all maintenance requirements to the supervisors on a timely basis.
• Maintain good production records, assist operators when required and the segregation, identification and transportation of any material within the grinding area.
• Keep the work area clean and safe, fill in on any job in the department as required, and perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor.
