Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings seeks a Second Engineer to maintain an effective engine room watch and perform maintenance on critical systems aboard a Norwegian ship. The role requires STCW-95 compliant qualifications, a valid Second Engineer license, and 1–2 years of relevant experience with a solid understanding of the Company SMS.

You will work under the Chief Engineer, participate in safety committees, and ensure proper handover reports and compliance with fuel, ballast, and waste

Qualifications

  • Second Engineer qualifications and licenses in compliance with all International and National conventions and regulations.
  • Second Engineer license, endorsed by the Flag State, and all of the certificates as required by the STCW 95.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the Company SMS.
  • Thorough knowledge of the vessel he/she is assigned to.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an efficient engine room watch in sea and port.
  • Carry out maintenance to assigned technical systems as designated.
  • Assist in familiarization with the vessel of lower-ranked engine officers.
  • Prepare a handover report prior leaving the vessel.
  • Represent the Engine Department on the Shipboard Safety Committee.
  • Follow Chief Engineer’s instructions and procedures for bunkering and fuel transfers.
  • Comply with laws regarding refrigerant gases, bilge water, oily sludge, black water, and gray water operations.
