Job summary

Hornblower's Seaward Services seeks a Second Assistant Engineer to support safe operation of propulsion and auxiliary systems aboard Training Support Vessels in Norfolk.

You will stand engine room watches, assist the Chief Engineer, perform preventive maintenance, and help mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory procedures.

Candidates must meet USCG MMC STCW, TWIC, and US passport requirements; willingness to work rotating watches and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid MMC with STCW endorsements suitable for 3,000 kW vessels.
• Valid TWIC.
• US Passport.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
• Ability to stand watches and work in crews.

Responsibilities

• Stand engine room watches and assist the Chief Engineer.
• Perform preventive maintenance on propulsion and auxiliary systems.
• Maintain engineering logs and reports.
• Follow safety, environmental, and regulatory procedures.
• Assist senior engineers with training of junior personnel.
• Support vessel readiness and operations.
