Job summary

SEBS EOF Summer Session (Internal/External 5 Writing Instructors)

Part‑time instruction of Introductory to Expository Writing for the SEBS EOF Summer START‑UP program. The role includes a week of virtual instruction during orientation and two weeks of in‑person instruction on the Livingston Campus.

Schedule / Program Dates

• July 6–10: Virtual instruction (10:40‑12:30 pm)
• July 13–31: In‑person classes (Tuesday and Thursday, 10:40‑12:30 pm)
• Faculty orientation: TBD
• Faculty meetings: Thursdays, 12:30‑2:00 pm (virtual)
• Closing ceremony: Friday, July 31 (in‑person)

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess pre‑writing, drafting, and revising activities for two major writing assignments.
• Facilitate discussions, workshops, and tutorials to develop academic argumentative writing skills.
• Maintain communication with students via email, phone, or virtual conference during the first week.
• Support student readiness for the fall semester through skill development and feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in English, preferably in higher education.
• Experience instructing grammar, syntax, and advanced writing skills across varied skill levels.
• Curriculum development experience and ability to deliver course content with innovative practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse student populations.
• Proficiency in Zoom and Canvas platforms for virtual instruction.
• Team‑oriented, energetic, positive attitude, and strong leadership potential.

Salary

Minimum salary of $3,312 per month. Final offer is based on qualifications, experience, funding availability, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
