Job summary

Shoney's is seeking a friendly team member to welcome guests, determine seating and seating preferences, and assist with overall restaurant operations. You will work with management to seat guests efficiently and ensure a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities include processing payments, handling to-go orders, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent guest service. The role requires a professional demeanor, reliability, and the ability to work varied shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests to restaurant.
• Determine number in guest party, smoking preference and any special seating needs such as table vs. booth, booster seat/high chair, etc.
• Work with Manager to maintain awareness of each server’s assigned area and ensure appropriate distribution of seating
• Communicate seating details with Manager to ensure seating as quickly as possible
• Distribute premium items such as coloring books and crayons or balloons
• Assist with collecting and organizing menus and other tasks like blowing up balloons
• Follow all policies and procedures of Shoney’s Team Members
• Process payments, tickets, and issue receipts in line with cash handling policies
• Count money accurately
• Write and take to-go orders placed in person or by phone
• Maintain cleanliness of public areas and ensure tidy cashier station and dining areas
• Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with guests at all times
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Performs other essential functions as assigned.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

1. Welcome guests to restaurant.
2. Determine number in guest party, smoking preference and any special seating needs such as table vs. booth, booster seat/high chair, etc.
3. Working with Manager, maintains awareness of each server’s assigned area and ensures appropriate distribution of seating
4. Works with Manager to ensure seating as quickly as possible, communicating number in party and seating preferences.
5. Distributes premium items such as coloring books and crayons or balloons.
6. Assists as needed or assigned with other responsibilities such as collecting and organizing menus, blowing up balloons, etc.
7. Maintains familiarity with and follows all policies and procedures of the job as a Shoney’s Team Member.
8. Receives payment from guests, processes tickets, makes change and issues receipts in accordance with cash handling policies/procedures
9. Counts money correctly
10. Writes and calls in “to go” orders taken both in person and by telephone.
11. Assists as needed or assigned with maintaining cleanliness of public areas, including but not limited to wiping down cashier station, booths, front glass doors etc.
12. Maintains pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with guests at all times.
13. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Performs other essential functions as assigned.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills; continuously stands; frequently lifts and/or carries up to 10 lbs; occasionally lifts and/or carries up to 24 lbs.; occasionally pushes/pulls up to 10 lbs. occasionally bends/stoops, squats, kneels; frequently twists and reaches above shoulders; occasionally exposed to extreme heat/cold, noise; continuously works inside; continuously utilizes near vision; speech; hearing; Frequently works under pressure of high guest volume.

WORK CONDITIONS/HOURS

Normal restaurant working conditions. Frequently exposed to hot items such as soups, meats, gravies, etc.; continuously works closely with others. Hours vary according to assigned shift, including weekends and/or holidays, opening or closing.
