Job summary

PopStroke Entertainment Group is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Kitchen Manager and lead a high-energy kitchen team in California. You will oversee operations in the manager's absence, uphold quality, safety, and efficiency, and coach staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on cooking skills, and a solid understanding of sanitation and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook, and expediter with a minimum of 1 year in a management/supervisor role
• Excellent leadership skills
• High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines
• Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed
• Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards
• Active Serve Safe Manager certificate

Responsibilities

• Set up stations and cook menu items in cooperation with the kitchen team.
• Ensure a high standard of service efficiency, sanitation, and training and safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
• Coordinate and production of events and functions.
• Maintain cleaning schedules and proper storage of food; manage kitchen cleanliness.
• Assist with ordering, inventories, and receiving; maintain par levels.
• Ensure accurate completion of culinary schedules aligned with forecasted volume.
• Assist Kitchen Manager with labor control and assigning duties.
• Develop, coach, discipline, and mentor team members; train new staff.
• Maintain knowledge of company products and happenings; resolve food quality complaints.
