Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks experienced law enforcement professionals for Border Patrol Agent roles under a term appointment. The position commands a GS-12 level salary with potential for advancement and offers an expedited pre-employment process for reemployed annuitants.

Agents protect America’s borders by land, air, and sea; enforce immigration and nationality laws; inspect documents; and apprehend those who enter illegally. Training and rotation are required.

Qualifications

• Specialized law enforcement experience required.
• Ability to interpret and enforce immigration laws and procedures.
• Eligibility for reinstatement and time-in-grade considerations if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Protect borders by enforcing immigration and national laws and inspecting documents.
• Prevent illegal entry and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders.
• Patrol international boundaries and use a variety of assets for enforcement and surveillance.
• Respond to incidents and conduct investigations as part of Border Patrol operations.
• Participate in mandatory pre-employment and reemployment processes and training.
