Job summary

Target is hiring a Yard Driver at a distribution center. You will drive and operate tractors/trailers in the yard, back trailers into dock locations, and coordinate with Dispatch and Yard Coordinators to move equipment safely and efficiently.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, be able to lift up to 60 lbs, read trailer information, and operate computer systems. CDL is preferred but not required; shift is Sat/Sun/Mon 6PM-6AM with full benefits.

Starting Hourly Rate $25.50 USD per hour. You may also earn additional compensation in the form of a shift differential, ranging from $2.00 to $3.50 per hour, based on eligibility.

As a Yard Driver, you will drive and operate tractors/trailers in the yard, in a safe and efficient manner, while making trailer moves to doors and locations in the yard. You must be able to skillfully back up trailers into all types of dock and yard locations, as well as hook and unhook trailers. You will need to maintain communication with Dispatch, Yard Coordinators and Operation Managers via the radio. This work will also require attention to detail and a focus on safety procedures and protocols, including the performance of routine safety inspections of vehicles. In this role, it is also vital to complete job tasks assigned accurately and on time.

About you:

• Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license for state employed
• Maintains positive and respectful attitude while working independently and in a team environment
• Able to lift and carry materials/equipment up to 30 lbs frequently and able to lift and carry equipment up to 60 lbs infrequently
• Able to work independently, quickly and safely
• Ability to problem solve and escape when needed
• Knowledge of the functions of tractors and trailers and their systems
• Able to work in all types of weather conditions
• Able to operate all equipment safely
• Able to read trailer information such as trailer numbers, safety procedures and protocols
• Basic math skills
• Ability to operate computer systems with minimal direction after receiving training
• CDL is preferred, but not required
