Job summary

Target is hiring a Seasonal Transportation Yard Coordinator in Georgia to manage daily trailer movements and ensure safety within the distribution center yards. You will coordinate with carriers, monitor trailer status, and help maintain efficient yard operations.

Responsibilities include updating yard systems, communicating with DC leadership, and coordinating with First Mile Transportation to balance freight flow.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Experience working in a high volume, high activity environment.
• Direct experience within a distribution center truck yard, or traffic management preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily trailer movement within Target’s Distribution Center Yards.
• Maintain a safety-first culture with carriers and ensure safe operating practices.
• Update yard management system to reflect current trailer status and ensure timely deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with DC executives regarding trailer needs and progress.
• Monitor trailer releases and maintain accountability of Target equipment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with First Mile Transportation to manage trailer pools and freight flow.

Job description

The pay range per hour is $20.82 - $37.45. You may also earn additional compensation in the form of a shift differential, ranging from $2.00 to $3.50 per hour, based on eligibility.

Last Mile Transportation

Last Mile Transportation at Target is responsible for moving E-Commerce shipments from our unique Omnichannel fulfillment network to our Guests’ homes. More than 80% of that volume originates in over 1400 of our Stores making Target the largest volume true Omnichannel shipper out there. Servicing the transportation out of that huge distributed network and high volumes means a simultaneous microscopic attention to day to day detail as well as the ability to step back think strategically in order to drive change within Target and with our carriers to fully leverage our Stores as Hubs strategy and provide maximum Best in Class Guest Experience.

As a Seasonal Transportation Yard Coordinator, you are responsible for the execution of daily trailer movement within Target’s Distribution Center Yards. You will foster a “safety first” culture through awareness, training and accountability. With safety being Target’s number one priority, you will work diligently with carriers to ensure they are following all safety expectations and maintaining a safe work environment for all drivers that enter Target’s yard, identifying any unsafe acts and working to immediately address. You will work to ensure the yard management system is updated to reflect the current status of all trailers in the yard. You will also ensure all trailers are admitted according to the current best practices. You will be expected to communicate effectively with all DC executives regarding trailer needs, movement and progress. You will monitor trailer releases to ensure trailers meet scheduled deliveries to stores and be responsible for the accountability of all Target equipment. This includes conducting trailer inventories and ensuring that the equipment is available for preventive maintenance checks. Furthermore, you will work cross functionally with First Mile Transportation to monitor trailer pools and freight flow volatility, ensuring our yards remain within threshold and safe.
