City of Boulder is hiring part-time lifeguards to ensure pool safety, monitor swimmers, and provide customer service to visitors. Staff may dispatch at water slides and enforce facility rules.

Minimum qualifications include swimming 300 yards, brick retrieval from 10 feet, treading water for two minutes, and current Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications. Benefits vary by role type.

Qualifications

• Must be able to swim 300 yards.
• Must be able to retrieve a 10‑lb brick from the bottom at 10 feet.
• Must tread water for two minutes with no hands.
• Strong communication skills.
• Maintain acceptable background information.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lifeguard and primary responsibility.
• Monitor patrons in the water and on deck to minimize injury.
• Act as a dispatcher at the top of elevated waterslides as needed.
• Educate, explain, and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons.
• Prevent accidents, remain calm in emergency situations, work with little or no supervision.
• Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance in and out of the water.
• Perform basic front office and customer service duties.
