Job summary

SXSW in Austin, Texas is seeking a full-time seasonal Visual Designer for the Content Department. You will develop creative concepts and art assets for sxsw.com and social media, collaborating with editors to deliver on-brand experiences for the festival and conference.

This on-site role requires a strong portfolio and proficiency in Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, plus familiarity with WordPress, Hootsuite, Airtable, and Google Drive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, After Effects, and Photoshop.
• Proficiency in Premiere Pro is a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Passion for design, social media, and creativity.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask.
• Team player with independent work skills.
• Portfolio of previous work required.

Responsibilities

• Generate strong visual assets for sxsw.com and social media platforms.
• Contribute to monthly Content Department needs for brand awareness and engagement.
• Turn brand strategy into compelling design experiences following Brand Guidelines.
• Assist with templates and motion graphics for videos.
• Propose ideas backed by audience data to improve reach and engagement.
• On-site duties during the event with extended hours in March.
• Curate and edit photos/videos in real-time and coordinate galleries with Photography.
• Publish content across platforms for Conference and festival coverage.
• Capture vertical video for Instagram/TikTok when needed.
