Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced seasonal tax professional to prepare complex returns and guide clients through tax implications. You’ll interview clients, offer personalized recommendations, and help identify savings opportunities while leveraging our training and tools. In-person role at a local H&R Block office.

Responsibilities include accurate returns for individuals and businesses, IRS support, and collaborative teamwork to deliver exceptional service and insights.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of tax prep or related experience, incl. individual/business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication; explain tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications, then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant HR Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
