Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses. You will interview clients, identify savings opportunities, and provide personalized tax guidance using HR Block tools and training.

This role is based in a local H&R Block tax office in Rochester, NY, offering competitive hourly pay and an incentive plan. Strong communication and client-facing skills are essential to help clients navigate complex tax situations.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including individual and business returns
• Experience in a client facing, consultative or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; explain tax concepts clearly
• High school diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field (preferred)
• CPA or Enrolled Agent or IRS Circular 230 credential (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications
• Build trusted client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and relevant HR Block products
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a client-focused office environment
