Job summary

H&R Block in New York is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, and to help clients navigate complex tax situations with confidence.

You will interview clients to understand financial details, offer personalized recommendations, and build lasting relationships while leveraging training and technology. This in-person role provides an hourly rate and incentives, with opportunities to grow in tax and financial services.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• 1+ year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience in client-facing, consultative or advisory roles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive client-focused office environment
