Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate in Illinois to join our tax team. You’ll meet with clients, gather information, prepare returns with training, and explain tax concepts clearly while building client relationships.

With no prior tax experience required, you’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, learn on the job, and work in person at a local tax office during peak season. Availability evenings/weekends is a plus.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course1
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
