Job summary

H&R Block seeks a seasonal Tax Associate in Virginia for in-person client service at a local tax office. You will meet with clients, gather information, and prepare tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.

No prior tax experience is required; you will learn on the job while earning a competitive hourly rate and building valuable client relationships during peak season.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent
• Comfort using digital tools and AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
