Job summary

City of New Hope Minnesota maintains sidewalks and other city areas with snow removal equipment and related tasks. This on-call seasonal position runs from mid-November through the end of March, handling various light equipment and hand tools under supervision of the streets, parks and central garage supervisor.

Responsibilities include operating equipment of different sizes, driving trucks and trailers, inspecting and performing minor repairs, and ensuring safety standards are met.

Join the City of New Hope's maintenance team in clearing snow from sidewalks, parking lots and other areas as needed. Work will be on an on-call basis from mid-November through the end of March. Work will be range from operation of various types of light equipment to hand tools.. Work is performed under the supervision of the streets, parks and central garage supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Maintains sidewalks and other areas as directed throughout the City with snow removal equipment and other assigned tasks
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Drives trucks and trailers and operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling and unloading various equipment or materials.
• Performs routine inspection on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to appropriate personnel; cleans equipment.
• Adjusts, lubricates or makes small repairs to equipment while in use.
• Performs all duties to appropriate safety and security standards.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

• Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience is preferred but not required.
