Job summary

The City of Lakeville is seeking a Streets Maintenance II to operate heavy machinery and perform winter and summer street maintenance tasks, including plowing, grading, street sweeping, and storm sewer work. The role requires availability for extended days and shift changes to support city operations.

Responsibilities include snow/ice control, street cleaning, mowing boulevards, tree work, road patching, curb/sidewalk repair, and safety for workers and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• MN Class B driver's license with tanker endorsement; Class A with tank endorsement preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to perform strenuous outdoor labor in various weather conditions.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice control operations using trucks, graders, loaders and other specialized equipment.
• Respond to cleanup/maintenance of storm related events.
• Mow boulevards, bike path areas and ditches.
• Perform pruning, removal, and replacement of boulevard trees.
• Perform spring cleanup, including street sweeping, seal coating and construction cleanup.
• Perform street cleaning operations, catch basin repairs and storm sewer maintenance.
• Install, maintain and replace street signs and pavement markings.
• Repair and patch asphalt and gravel road surfaces; crack sealing.
• Repair/replace concrete curb and sidewalk.
• Load and haul materials for street maintenance and repair.
• Conduct minor vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance.
• Adhere to safety rules and protect employees and public.
• Promote good relations among staff and public.
• Assist other maintenance tasks or emergencies as needed.

As aStreets Maintenance II worker, you’ll tackle hands‑on work operating heavy machinery across a wide range of seasonal operations—from plows and graders during winter storms to road construction, street sweeping, and storm sewer maintenance in the summer. This position must be available for extended work days, call backs and shift schedules as required for the City's maintenance operations.

2027 salary range: $33.07 - $42.80.

• Perform snow and ice control operations using trucks, graders, loaders and other specialized pieces of equipment.
• Responds to clean up and/or maintenance of storm related events.
• Mow boulevards, bike path areas and ditches.
• Perform pruning, removal, and replacement of boulevard trees.
• Perform all phases of spring cleanup, including street sweeping, seal coating and construction cleanup.
• Perform street cleaning operations, catch basin repairs and cleaning and storm sewer inlet and outlet maintenance.
• Install, maintain and replace street identification and traffic control signs and pavement markings.
• Perform minor and major repairs to asphalt and gravel road surfaces including patching, overlays and crack sealing.
• Perform concrete curb and sidewalk repair and replacement.
• Perform loading and hauling of materials for street maintenance and repair.
• Perform minor vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance.
• Adhere to and implement all safety rules, regulations and practices, including wearing appropriate safety equipment as necessary to protect the employee, the operation, and the public.
• Promote and maintain good relations between co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
• Perform other maintenance tasks and assist other maintenance divisions as assigned, including emergency situations or to balance seasonal workloads and schedules.

• Ability to successfully pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test.
