Job summary

Wayne County Michigan is seeking a Seasonal Public Service Maintenance Worker to maintain highways, roads, and rights‑of‑way. You will perform snow and ice operations, patch pavement, repair guardrails, and manage drainage systems while driving CDL vehicles and keeping records.

Shifts may include 12‑hour rotation; position begins in November 2026 and ends April 2027. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a CDL with Air Brake endorsement (A or B) plus N endorsement within 3

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have valid Michigan CDL with type A and Air Brake endorsement OR CDL B with Air Brake endorsement and N endorsement within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice operations and maintain equipment.
• Concrete and rough masonry work and asphalt placement.
• Keep field time records and reports.
• Drive CDL vehicles to sweep debris and spread salt and sand.
• Repair guardrails, road shoulders, and highway markers.
• Inspect and repair drainage systems and structures.
• Support fencing, barriers, and signage as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning on vehicles and equipment.
