Job summary

The City of Kingman is seeking seasonal Program Aides for the Parks and Recreation department. This entry‑level role supports summer recreation programs for kids, teens, and adults, helping run activities and events while working in a fast-paced team environment.

You will assist with daily programs, supervise participants, and help keep activities running smoothly and safely. The role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential recreational program skills.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of age.
• Some experience working with youth or adult programs, or a combination of education, experience, and training related to recreational activities.
• Ability to follow directions, maintain program standards, and enforce rules when needed.
• Willingness to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of assignment.
• Some assignments may require a valid Arizona driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Program Support & Activities (45%): Assist with planning, preparing, and leading recreational activities such as games, crafts, sports, field trips, and indoor/outdoor programs. Help the Program Assistant with daily attendance and activity implementation and ensure programs are organized and engaging.
• Participant Supervision & Safety (25%): Provide guidance, care, and supervision for program participants. Observe safety precautions, help maintain order, and report unsafe conditions to ensure programs operate safely.
• Facility & Equipment Setup (15%): Prepare facilities, equipment, and service areas for daily activities. Assist with opening, closing, storing, securing, cleaning, and sanitizing program spaces and equipment.
• Customer Service & Communication (10%): Greet patrons, respond to questions, and provide information about programs, activities, and policies. Maintain professional communication with participants, coworkers, and the public.
• Administrative & Support Tasks (5%): Complete attendance logs, incident reports, timesheets, and other required records. Attend required meetings and trainings and assist with special events or additional programs as needed.
