Job summary

The City of Kingman Police Department is seeking a Police Recruit to join a 24/7 law enforcement team. This role includes academy training, certification, and field training for qualified recruits, with the ability to work rotating shifts and respond to calls as needed.

Pay starts at $31.22/hr ($64,938/yr) for non-AZ POST certified recruits and $32.25/hr ($67,081/yr) after certification. Benefits include paid training, take-home gear and uniforms, paid time off, and opportunities for specialized

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED (college coursework in criminal justice or related education or experience preferred).
• Be at least 21 years old by academy completion.
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
• Arizona POST certification or ability to attend/complete academy training to obtain AZ POST certification.
• Ability to obtain TOC Level B certification.
• Able to pass extensive background investigation including fingerprinting and polygraph.
• Strong communication, report writing, rapid decision making under stress.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and call-backs.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, respond to calls, enforce laws, make arrests, conduct searches, and handle emergencies.
• Conduct investigations with on-scene and follow-up activities, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and testify as needed.
• Interact with the public, mediate disputes, assist individuals, and maintain professional relations with the community.
• Prepare reports, maintain records, operate department systems, and uphold policies with professionalism.
