Job summary

The City of Pleasant Hill is seeking a Project Assistant to support community events and programs in the City Manager’s Office. This temporary six-month assignment offers hands-on experience in planning, promotion, vendor coordination, and day-of event operations.

You will work with the Community Relations Manager to deliver signature events, including Light Up the Night and the Summer by the Lake Concert Series, with flexible hours (8–10 per week) that may include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent; college coursework in event planning, hospitality, or related field preferred but not required
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work with diverse communities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; social media experience desirable
• Canva or other graphic design software experience is desirable

Responsibilities

• Assist with event logistics including setup, teardown, and day-of operations
• Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and community partners
• Support social media posts, flyer distribution, and community outreach in coordination with marketing staff
• Assist with post-event evaluations, surveys, and reporting on outcomes and attendee feedback
• Collaborate with City staff to create engaging experiences for the community
