Job summary

Northeast Paving is seeking a Paving Machine Operator to join our field team in Westfield, MA. This hourly, full-time role performs paving tasks on construction projects and adapts to changing workflows, operating heavy equipment and coordinating with truck drivers.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of road construction experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
3–5 years of industry-related experience required, with emphasis on roads, highways and bridges.
Must understand paving procedures and communicate effectively with job-site supervisors.

Responsibilities

Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet project standards.
Follow safe operation of paver and set screed sensors.
Determine the proper placement of materials and maintain appropriate paving speed to match truck delivery.
Perform daily maintenance (lubrication), keep equipment clean, and perform pre-start checks on fluids.
Maintain equipment in proper and safe working order and notify supervisor if repair is needed.
Conduct safety inspections for leaks and damage before operation.
Set up and use automatic grade and slope control; adjust screed crown and strike off.
Work in a team environment safely and successfully; assist with incidental duties as needed.
