Job summary

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in Rochester, Minnesota, is seeking a seasonal, full-time Buildings and Grounds Worker to perform custodial and grounds work, routine maintenance, repairs, and minor construction on state buildings, structures, and parks.

Hours are 7:00am–5:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with occasional travel. Applicants must meet the necessary qualifications, drive as required, and pass background checks. Connect 700 eligibility applies for certain applicants.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage work tasks effectively, and work independently with limited supervision while prioritizing customer service and safety.
• Teamwork skills sufficient to help colleagues complete tasks efficiently and safely.
• Welcoming a diverse user base to Minnesota State Parks and Trail Units.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, communicate and solve routine maintenance situations.
• Safe operation of equipment such as mowers, weed whips, hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, UTVs and vehicles.
• Explain policies and procedures in a clear, concise, professional and unbiased manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide labor services to Parks and Trails sites and facilities to ensure safe, high quality facilities.
• Perform routine repairs and inspections on equipment and tools.
• Provide information to the public and customer service to facility users.
• Record and communicate accurate information on work performed for safety and efficiency.
• Complete and actively participate in safety and other job-related training.
