Job summary

MainStreet Family Care in Smithfield, NC is seeking a Seasonal Medical Assistant to support urgent and primary care services during the busy cold/flu season from October through February.

You will perform clinical and clerical tasks, participate in rotating shifts, and help ensure smooth patient flow and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Prior medical assisting experience or education is beneficial but not required.
• Medical assisting certification is not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
• Take patient histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Dispense medication as directed.
• Educate patients on discharge instructions, when applicable.
• Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, physicians, pharmacies, and other staff.
• Address patient concerns within the scope of the position.
• Maintain patient records for clinical, medical, billing, and review purposes.
• Assist with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies.
• Assist with annual training as needed.
• Help produce and maintain patient education materials.
• Keep work and treatment areas clean and professional.
• Accept and handle special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Our clinic operates with two shifts: Shift A and Shift B. Staff will work on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend.
