Job summary

MainStreet Family Care seeks a Seasonal Medical Assistant in Tarboro, NC for the busy cold and flu season (October–February). Join our urgent care and primary care team delivering care across urgent, telemedicine, and occupational services, with rotating shifts and every-other-weekend duties.

Responsibilities include room preparation, taking histories and vital signs, processing specimens, clerical duties, patient education, and supporting staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Prior medical assisting experience or education is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
• Take patient histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Dispense medication as directed.
• Educate patients on discharge instructions, when applicable.
• Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, physicians, pharmacies, and other staff.
• Address patient concerns within the scope of the position.
• Maintain patient records for clinical, medical, billing, and review purposes.
• Assist with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies.
• Assist with annual training as needed.
• Help produce and maintain patient education materials.
• Keep work and treatment areas clean and professional.
• Accept and handle special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Rotating Schedule

Our clinic operates with two shifts: Shift A and Shift B. Staff will work on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend. Below is a sample schedule:

Compensation
