County of Santa Cruz is hiring Lifeguards and Swim Lesson Instructors to ensure safe pool operations at community facilities. Responsibilities include supervising swimmers, teaching water classes, enforcing safety rules, and handling basic customer service and cashier tasks.

Applicants must hold valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR certificates and will undergo certifications verification. The position offers extra-help temporary status with event coverage and potential schedule

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate (LGT) AND a valid CPR Certificate.
• Proof of certification must be submitted prior to performance assessment.
• Background Investigation: Fingerprinting is required for persons 18 and older.

Responsabilités

• Perform lifeguard duties and rescues with close surveillance of swimming activities.
• Provide swimming instruction and assist in recreational aquatics classes.
• Enforce water safety rules and departmental regulations.
• Open and close swimming facilities; notify supervisor of emergencies or problems.
• Provide customer service; cashier and assist with program and facility rentals.
• Prepare routine records and reports and assist with special events.
