Position Type: Seasonal

Salary Range: $24.50 - $24.50 Hourly

Work Hours: Varies throughout the year/season with varied morning, mid day and evening shifts available on weekdays and weekends.

Essential Job Functions

• Have the ability to confidently lead private swim lessons as well as small group lessons
• Prevents injury by conducting proper surveillance and enforcing pool rules
• Act as part of the rescue team in the event of any emergency while on duty at the aquatic facility
• Must attend at least one in-service training per year

• Understanding of how to create appropriate swim lessons for various skill levels and ages as per Red Cross WSI standards
• The ability to correctly identify a student's skill level and conduct a lesson that follows meaningful progressions
• The ability to correct dangerous or forbidden behavior while maintaining a respectful tone with patrons
• The ability to fill out incident reports in the case of an injury while on duty
• Understanding the facilities EAP and being prepared to use it

Required Qualifications

• Maintain a current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification throughout employment
• The ideal candidate will have at least one year of lifeguard experience
• Maintain a current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or equivalent
• The ideal candidate will have at least one year of swim coaching or teaching experience

Physical Demands

• Must have the ability to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes, 30 seconds.
• Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms.
• Must be able to assist in removing a victim from the water using a backboard.
