Marathon County Ice Arena is seeking a Seasonal worker to assist with operational support, cleaning, light maintenance, and shelter rentals. The role focuses on customer service, safety, and task variety in a public facility.

You will open/close facilities, help events, operate basic equipment, and follow policies. Evening and weekend availability is required; a valid driver’s license and willingness to perform labor tasks are essential.

Position Summary

Responsible for operational assistance of the Marathon County Ice Arena and some shelter rentals. This is a customer service position including, cleaning, light facility maintenance, and other various manual labor.

Examples of Work Performed

• Assists the public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintains a friendly attitude towards the public and provides effective customer service.
• Open and close facilities according to established policies.
• May set up facilities for special events or rental groups.
• May work independently or under the guidance of full-time employees in repair and maintenance work.
• May operate power equipment of various sizes in City and County parks and facilities.
• Examples of equipment include half-ton pickup truck, floor scrubber, golf cart, etc.
• Mau use cleaning agents and other chemicals in performing tasks.
• Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving history that meets County standards.
• Experience in customer service desirable.
• This position is primarily a labor position that conducts facility and shelter cleaning and minor maintenance.
• Evening and weekend availability will be required.

• Skill in operating vehicles and equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Skill in keeping timely, accurate records related to fee collections and remittance, work requests, destruction and loss forms, public incident forms, etc.
• Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance activities and processes.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Ability to effectively communicate with park users and coworkers.
• Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.

Compensation

Starting hourly rate is $14.50 for year one, $14.75 year two, and $15.00 year three. No benefits are provided for these seasonal positions.

This job may include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, or engaging in manual labor.
