Job Summary

This union position is located at Aquarion Water Company of Massachusetts (Millbury/Oxford). The role is for a seasonal laborer supporting water systems in Millbury and Oxford. Candidates must be in good physical condition and able to work a regular 8-hour weekly shift (Monday to Friday, with a half-hour lunch) and overtime as needed. The role requires technical, mechanical, communication, and basic skills to perform the duties effectively.

Principal Responsibilities

• Reading, installing, and removing customer meters with radio-based and handheld equipment, including data upload/download.
• Repairing and maintaining fire hydrants.
• Performing general plant maintenance, housekeeping, and groundskeeping.
• Assisting in the maintenance and operation of pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, and related equipment.
• Operating various mechanical and electrical tools, including pneumatic, cutting, hand, and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and use safety equipment such as respirators.
• Ensuring all activities comply with company and regulatory procedures, rules, and guidelines.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Preferred Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to work outdoors in heat and sun.

Education/Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Salary

• Starting at $18.99/hour as of 8/1/2024, subject to union-negotiated increases.
• Union members are given priority in the application process.
