Job summary

AgSource seeks a Seasonal Laboratory Assistant in Ellsworth, IA to prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses per SOP and QC guidelines. Maintain timely testing turnaround and uphold attendance as an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities include calibrating instruments, completing documentation, and ensuring safety in the lab while supporting daily workflow and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Detail oriented nature.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Scheduling flexibility and overtime as needed based on workflow and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare sample analyses according to laboratory SOP for designated tests to ensure quality results.
• Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation according to laboratory SOP.
• Thoroughly complete appropriate documentation.
• Report results of analysis in a timely manner according to standard laboratory turn-times.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures such as cleaning of labware and laboratory workspaces.
• Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Follow safe work procedures and report unsafe conditions and injuries immediately.
• Inspect own work area and take approved remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards.
• Complete required safety training assignments, forms and paperwork.
