Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Christmas Kettle Coordinator to lead the local kettle campaign with thorough planning and management. This role focuses on securing locations, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring policy-compliant money handling.

You will visit kettle sites prior to the season, recruit and train staff, coordinate scheduling, and monitor daily performance to drive a successful campaign in the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working in a nonprofit organization (2 years) preferred.
• CA driver's license required.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation, management and success of The Salvation Army Kettle program
• Visit kettle locations before the season, meet the manager, and secure the location
• Scout out new locations for the kettle program
• Secure all necessary permissions to ring at kettle sites; includes insurance certificates and manager agreements
• Hire workers needed for a successful kettle season
• Organize and support efforts to bring attention to kettles
• Responsible for the orientation and training of kettle workers
• Review kettle equipment, repair, paint or purchase as determined by supervisor
• Schedule kettle workers and volunteers
• Ensure all correct paperwork is provided and collected
• Review daily reports and make adjustments to kettle placement and shifts
• Address issues as they arise; escalate serious ones promptly
• Ensure money is counted and processed per policy
• Ensure employee schedule information is collected for payroll
• Prepare thank you letters on behalf of The Salvation Army
• Recruit volunteers for Christmas kettles
• Other related duties as required
