Job summary

YMCA of the Northern Colorado is seeking junior lifeguards to join our safety team. You will work as a second responder and coordinate with senior guards to keep the pool area safe and welcoming.

Must have current lifeguard certification (YMCA, Red Cross or equivalent), First Aid/CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Oxygen Administration. Bilingual staff may earn a +10% differential on testing Spanish/English.

Qualifications

• Must have current YMCA lifeguard, Red Cross lifeguard, or equivalent certification.
• Current First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Oxygen Administration certification.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for the safety and wellbeing of our members and guests, and keep our Y's pool a friendly, welcoming environment for all to play, learn and build confidence in the water.
• Ensure the safety of participants while they are in or near the pool or hot tub.
• General maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, water testing and general problem-solving.
• Relate positively to a variety of people including other staff, members, program participants, and children.
• Other duties as assigned.
