Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation – La Pine maintenance crew seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist (Limited Duration). You will operate snowplows, deicer trucks, and equipment to keep roadways safe and perform routine repairs on surfaces, fences, and drainage.

Requirements include CDL-B or CDL-A, at least one year of highway maintenance experience (or two years related work), and willingness for after-hours emergency response. Position ends by 06/30/2027 with potential to become permanent.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• CDL-B or CDL-A required; able to obtain CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Respond to weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, guardrails, and drainage.
• Perform pothole patching, concrete work and minor repairs.
• Maintain drainage systems and roadside vegetation; inspect and repair fences and milepost markers.
• Assist with emergency response and after-hours callouts.
