Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Ukiah seeks a Seasonal Highway Maintenance Specialist to operate heavy and light equipment, repair road surfaces, assist with weather-related emergencies, and perform routine maintenance. The role is seasonal, lasting about 6 months from hire, with regular benefits eligibility.

A valid CDL-A with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain one is required; valid US driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to work after hours and in all weather

Qualifications

• Two years of landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• One year of highway maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair road surfaces.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and snow/ice removal.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on roads, fences, drainage, and structures.
• Maintain vegetation, drainage systems, and erosion control.
• Service and repair tools and equipment and perform light carpentry.
