Job summary

State of Oregon's Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist to join the Ukiah-area maintenance crew. You will operate heavy and light equipment to maintain roadways, perform snow plowing, pothole patching, and repair drainage, fences and barriers.

Be prepared for after-hours emergencies and up to 60 lb lifts. CDL-A with tanker endorsement is preferred, or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• A current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) is preferred; ability to obtain with training.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways, bridges and structures.
• Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
• Clear debris, mow grass, and spray roadside vegetation; maintain fences and guardrails.
• Maintain drainage systems, culverts, and erosion controls; basic mechanical repairs on vehicles.
