Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Pendleton seeks a Seasonal Highway Maintenance Specialist to operate heavy and light equipment, perform maintenance, and respond to weather-related emergencies. The role lasts about 6 months with benefits, and requires a valid CDL-A and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Join a dedicated crew delivering road upkeep, pothole repair, debris removal, and routine landscaping tasks. Seasonal work may involve after-hours emergencies and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, sidewalks and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and operates plows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
• Clear debris, clear brush, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation.
• Maintain and repair fences, guardrails, concrete barriers and milepost markers.
• Maintain drainage systems, dig and clean ditches and repair culverts, inlets and erosion.
