Job summary

Maymont Foundation in Richmond, VA seeks a part-time Seasonal Guest Engagement Associate to ensure guests have positive experiences across Maymont's mansion, gardens and events. Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests.

The seasonal Guest Engagement Associate ensures that guests have positive and consistent experiences at Maymont. This is a part-time, seasonal position ranging from September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026. The associate will serve as a brand ambassador before, during and after guests' visits and provide active on-site assistance at community events including Bier Garden (Sept 26 and 27) and Garden Glow (Oct 14 - Nov 8). This position reports to the Senior Manager of Visitor Experience.

Essential Functions:

• Be a first point of contact for all guests of Maymont, delivering excellent customer service, courteous communication and gracious hospitality by actively engaging first


• Required availability to work scheduled shifts for Bier-Garden (Sept 26 and 27), Garden Glow (Oct 14-Nov 8), primarily evenings and weekends


• Work with colleagues and volunteers to help administer guest experience operations during general admission days, programs and community events


• Provide guest support over the phone or email by answering general questions, assisting with memberships, or processing tickets


• Maintain current information on all Maymont experiences, including exhibits, events and programs, and effectively communicate offerings to guests


• Assist park safety with enforcing park rules and policies

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED


• Customer service in retail, hospitality or similar guest-facing environment

Competencies:

• Excellent customer service skills


• Ability to professionally and courteously communicate during fast-paced and high-demand situations


• Enjoyment in direct guest-facing support, willingness to engage directly with the public with a friendly and professional demeanor


• Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across teams


• Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, special events and holidays


• Basic computer competency required (MS Office, web-based software)


• Flexibility and creativity


• Ability to pass a background check


• Reliable transportation to/from Maymont

Physical Demands:

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking and talking for extended periods


• Frequent climbing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs.


• Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions


• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
