Job summary

LVD Health Center is seeking a Facility Maintenance Worker (Grounds Keeper) to maintain our grounds across all seasons at Watersmeet, MI. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Director of Facilities & Compliance.

Responsibilities include mowing, pruning, planting, debris removal, and setting up event support. Requires a HS diploma, valid license, and ability to pass background and drug tests. On-call snow removal is often required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must have current valid state driver’s license.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and health screens.
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• One year of experience in ground maintenance or related field is preferred.
• Must be able to operate lawn tractor, skid steer and other equipment as necessary.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, edge, mulch, rake, irrigate, aerate, fertilize and weed control lawns.
• Maintain flower beds, trees, shrubs, pruning; erosion control; debris cleanup.
• Plant new lawns and plant trees, shrubs, hedges, and flowers as directed.
• Remove trash and leaves from parking lots, walkways, and grounds.
• Trim and prune plants for health and appearance.
• Install signs and set up event support, barricades, and traffic cones.
• Assist with maintenance on parking lots, roads, and sidewalks.
• Remove snow from walkways and lots; spread deicer.
• Perform routine maintenance on yard equipment and service tools.

DESCRIPTION:

Thejob of the Grounds Maintenance Worker is to keep the grounds of the HealthCenter in top condition through four seasons as directed by the Director ofFacilities & Compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs mowing, trimming, edging, mulching,raking, irrigation, aeration, fertilization and weed control of the lawn.
• Maintains flower beds, trees, and shrub pruning;erosion control; debris, drain and ditch cleanup.
• Establishnew lawns, plant trees, shrubs, hedges, and flowers as directed.
• Removetrash, clippings, trimmings and leaves from parking lots, sidewalks, andgrounds.
• Trims andprunes shrubs, ground cover, native plants, and trees for proper health,and attractive appearance.
• Performsa variety of general maintenance duties; install signs, set up and takedown event support, set up and remove barricades and traffic cones.
• Assistwith preventative maintenance and repair work on parking lots, roads, andsidewalks.
• Removesnow from walkways, driveways, roads, or parking lots using a shovel,snowplow, snowblower or required equipment. Spread deicer on walkways andother traffic areas.
• Performanceof routine maintenance on yard equipment, wash, clean and change oil,greasing, sharpening of blades, restringing weed eaters, and makingrepairs on grounds keeping equipment.
• Operatemotorized equipment, including trucks, tractors, skid steer, riding andpush mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters and edger’s.
• Maintaincleanliness of equipment and work areas including satellite storagefacilities.
• Off-seasonmay include inside maintenance crew tasks.
• Must beavailable and on call for snow removal as weather dictates, nights, early mornings,and weekends.
• Maintainprofessionalism in both appearance and demeanor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Requiresworking outside in variable weather elements with differentials intemperature and precipitation.
• Exposure to hazards: Position responsibilities requireworking with power tools, heavy equipment, heights, hazardous chemicals,inclement weather, and may be subjected to excessive noise, fumes, anddust.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend,twist, and kneel for extended periods of time. Heavy lifting between 50 – 75 lbs. is occasionallyrequired.
• Ability to navigate steepinclines, slopes, hills, and uneven ground surfaces while walking andoperating equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Fastpaced with occasional high pressure or emergent situations

· Maywear PPE such as gloves or a mask

· Frequentinteraction with a diverse population including team members, providers,patients, insurance companies and other members of the public

· Frequentsitting, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, carrying, and speaking

· Occasionalbending, stooping, lifting less than 20 pounds

· Lifting,carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed

· Frequentuse of computer, keyboard, fax and copy machine, and telephone
