Job summary

The Nashville Zoo is seeking a Groundskeeper (Temporary) to maintain outdoor spaces, signage, and walkways for guests. You will support special events, prep spaces, and assist with custodial tasks across zoo areas, ensuring safety and guest satisfaction.

The role is temporary and requires 18+ with a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include grounds inspections, landscaping, and aiding event setups as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Daily grounds inspections and safety checks with reports to supervision.
• Maintain walkways, viewing areas, signage, and outdoor spaces.
• Assist with event setup/breakdown and crowd control barriers.
• Restock waste bags, hand sanitizer, and guest materials.
• Provide guest assistance and directions around the zoo.
• Move supplies and assist custodial efforts in buildings and animal areas.
• Maintain lawns, gardens, and plant beds; report irrigation issues.
• Support animal viewing areas by keeping them clean and accessible.
• Uphold the zoo’s mission; adapt to early/late shifts and weekends.
