Job summary

Nashville Zoo is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide skilled labor assistance to the Facilities Department. This role requires working outdoors year-round, performing various maintenance tasks based on departmental needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of maintenance experience. The position offers a pay rate of $22.29 per hour and includes comprehensive benefits like healthcare and a 401(k) with company matching.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have experience in grounds, landscape, or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled or skilled labor assistance to facility department staff.
• Complete assigned Special Event tasks including setup and take down of event props.
• Participate in the zoo’s Emergency Response Programs.
• Assist other departments and staff as needed.

Skills

Ability to work with little or no supervision

Ability to interact professionally with both staff and visitors

Ability to perform assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner

Ability to operate efficiently and safely small, medium and heavy equipment

Ability to responsibly use and maintain assigned tools and equipment

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent

At least 1 year of general grounds, landscape, or maintenance experience
