Job summary

The City of Manhattan invites applications for Seasonal Laborer positions to maintain City grounds and facilities. This non-exempt role starts at $18.00/hour and supports a variety of maintenance duties, with shifts Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Applicants must be 18+, possess a valid driver's license, and be prepared for on-site work. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, irrigation, pruning, and equipment operation, while keeping logs and communicating with supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 18 years or older.
• Six (6) months experience in grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assists with general labor duties related to grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance such as mowing, painting, weed eating, janitorial duties, light brush and tree trimming, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned.
• Performs proper horticultural practices including irrigation, fertilization, weed control, planting and pruning.
• Operates a variety of tools and equipment including riding lawn mower, push lawn mower, weed eater, saws, basic hand tools and a truck pulling a trailer.
• Maintains records, maintenance logs, and activity records via electronic devices and communicates orally and in writing.
• Represents the City of Manhattan professionally and courteously with the public and other City employees.
