Job summary

The Salvation Army in Alexandria, VA seeks a seasonal staff member to recruit, train, and coordinate bell ringers for kettle operations. You will monitor staffing across locations, maintain records, and prepare reports on fundraising activities and volunteer participation.

You will also count and deposit kettle funds, drive vehicles as needed, and ensure adherence to policies while building positive relationships with staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent
• 1 year of kettle fundraising experience preferred or equivalent training/experience

Responsibilities

• Interviews, recruits, screens, and selects bell-ringing staff and volunteers to ensure locations are staffed
• Maintains ongoing communication with staff and volunteers, addressing questions and concerns
• Recognizes contributions through correspondence, calls and personal interaction
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with volunteers and staff
• Plans, schedules, assigns, and monitors work of staff and volunteers
• Provides instruction on methods, procedures and Salvation Army policies
• Reviews work for accuracy, completeness and compliance
• Maintains databases and records related to kettle income and volunteer participation
• Prepares reports on kettle program status and operation
• Provides hours documentation for volunteers and staff
• Assists with counting, recording and depositing kettle funds
• Drives Salvation Army vehicles to deliver and collect kettles and materials
