Job summary

GSMR in Bryson City, NC is seeking a Food & Beverage Runner for seasonal service aboard the train. You will assist in food delivery, ice, setup, and clearing duties to ensure timely, courteous guest experiences.

Responsibilities include stocking deliveries, serving in private caboose parties, maintaining cleanliness, upholding safety and attendance, and supporting management and staff during busy departures.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food service and preparation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
• Must be self‑motivated and disciplined.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to prioritize tasks.
• Must pass a Pre‑employment Background check, Work Steps Program and Driver’s License check.
• Available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must have professional appearance with good personal hygiene.
• Able to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules.

Responsibilities

• Check with MOD for daily food numbers and objectives.
• Receive, store, and organize all incoming deliveries.
• Responsible for Food and Beverage service on all private caboose parties including preparation, set‑up/break‑down and cleaning of supplies before end of shift.
• Ensure that all guest wishes are met as far as reasonably possible.
• Help ensure that the train dining areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
• Prep train for departure such as filling ice and delivering food to appropriate cars.
• Deliver food from the kitchen to passengers at the appropriate time.
• Assist with the removal of food waste from plates when needed.
• Able to change out Bag in Boxes and CO2 tanks.
• Assist with boarding and de‑boarding passengers where and when needed.
• Collect bus pans, extra food, and dishes back to the kitchen for cleaning.
• Collect and fulfill needs lists for first‑class cars.
• Adhere to company service standards, procedures and policies.
• Receive and putting away Alcohol deliveries in respective areas.
• Notify F&B management of alcohol, beer, and/or wine shortages.
• Roll a minimum of 48 silverware sets daily.
• Complete daily beautification chart.
• Complete a 20‑minute shift at Big Al's when open.
• Other duties as requested by Food & Beverage Management and/or GSMR senior management.
