Job summary

The Santa Barbara Zoo is seeking an Event Host to oversee private and public events, ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for guests while advancing our conservation and education mission. You will coordinate event setup, guest flow, and service provider interactions to deliver a superior visitor experience.

Seasonal, part-time, non-exempt, hourly position offering up to 25 hours per week at $16.90 per hour.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred
• At least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Arrives on time for scheduled shift and prepared to begin work.
• Maintains a professional appearance and composure as a Zoo representative.
• Prepares and operates electric carts per Zoo policies and safety standards.
• Inspects event sites, assists with setup, and greets vendors and guests.
• Directs guests at front gate, coordinates with service providers, and tracks guest arrivals.
• Collaborates with Zoo Catering Services (ZCS) to meet needs and uphold policies.
• Ensures cleanliness and safety in restrooms; leads bathroom maintenance for after-hours events.
• Manages guest flow to/from event sites and reports discrepancies to the Event Coordinator.
• Completes Event Evaluation Forms and event reports.
• Maintains safety adherence and handles emergencies per Zoo protocols.
