Job summary

The Santa Barbara Zoo is seeking a Custodian to uphold the highest cleanliness and guest experience standards at one of the region’s cherished destinations. This regular, full-time role offers a Wednesday–Sunday schedule with shift hours and a pay range of roughly $19.80–$20.80 per hour.

Under supervision, you will clean floors, restrooms, fixtures, and public areas, report safety issues, and support green practices while providing friendly guest service and maintaining the Zoo’s presentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Prior paid custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of janitorial methods, materials, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors and surfaces daily.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, restrooms fixtures, and equipment.
• Picks up trash and debris; maintains clean guest areas and walkways.
• Notify management for repairs or safety concerns.
• Assist guests with information and maintain a neat appearance.
