Job summary

The City of Onalaska is seeking a Maintenance Worker for a seasonal, limited-term position. Hours vary by event and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Responsibilities include setup/takedown for events, building and ice maintenance, cleaning, safety enforcement, and customer service during events.

Compensation ranges from $11.00 to $14.00 per hour with no benefits for this limited-term role. Minimum age is 16, and good oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Complete the setup and takedown of equipment for events and return the building to its original condition before and after each event.
• Enforce Omni Center rules to ensure public safety on the premises.
• Report problems with the building, contents, equipment or supplies to the supervisor or maintenance lead in writing or verbally.
• Assist in ice maintenance, including resurfacing, flooding, patching and edging as needed.
• Assist in building maintenance including bathroom cleaning, floor care, windows and custodial tasks; some outside maintenance.
• Open the building for events and securely close and lock it at night when required.
• Meet customer needs during events or escalate to supervisor as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of the building and surrounding grounds.
• Maintain professionalism and positive working relationships with the public, staff and volunteers; handle stressful situations calmly.
• Contribute to team effort and help with other job-related tasks as needed.
