This year, the Camp Dodge season is May 4 – October 23, with a shorter summer season from May 4 – August 20. Dates will be discussed during the interview process.

Join nearly a hundred years of history at Camp Dodge – operational in some capacity since 1935. Nestled in Pinkham Notch, you get breathtaking views of the Northern Presidential Range and incredible access to hiking, biking, swimming, and more.

After nearly four decades of AMC use, renovations in 2020 transitioned the facility from a volunteer center into the North Country trails operations hub. The facility expanded to include new staff housing, an updated kitchen and bathhouses, a new workshop, and a large pavilion for trails training and community meals. It serves as basecamp for the AMC’s professional trail crews, AmeriCorps crews, volunteer programs, backcountry caretakers, research interns, and some Forest Service employees.

What You’ll Be Doing at AMC
  • Kitchen Operations and Meal Preparation: Participate in creating a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times. Follow a daily task list that includes food preparation for daily meals, dishwashing, and meal set up and clean up.
  • Groundwork and Facility Maintenance: Perform cleaning, landscaping, and other hands‑on tasks such as planting and maintaining the garden, weed whacking, mowing, compost work, and daily facility cleaning.
  • Minor Facility Repair and Maintenance: Handle minor repairs as needed.
  • Community Collaboration: Work closely with Head Cooks and crew to maintain a safe and fun environment. Promote AMC programs and encourage membership to support conservation and public service efforts.
  • Provide meals and housing: Support the crews during the work week and on their days off with nourishing meals and clean, comfortable housing. The work week is ten‑hour days – four days on, three days off. A $75 per week paycheck deduction covers all employee food and housing for days on and off. Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
Qualifications
  • Physical Abilities: Easy working in and around a commercial kitchen with exposure to cleaning products; lift up to 60 pounds from waist to head height or floor to waist height; stand, sit, walk up to 12 hours; work in a camp setting in all weather conditions.
  • Personal Attributes: Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, evenings as part of the camp schedule; work from 4:30 AM to 8 PM; positive attitude; effective communication; community minded; open to feedback.
  • Skills and Past Experience: Preferred experience in camp operations, hospitality, outdoor work; previous food service or kitchen experience; ability to follow instructions; familiarity with facility maintenance and repair.

  • Salary range: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour. Starting point of salary range; final compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and geographic differential.
